The Azekah Excavation team includes scholars and specialists from a range of academic fields, who travel from across the world each year to excavate with us.

As archaeology becomes increasingly interdisciplinary, so too does our team. Explore our team’s individual scholarly portfolios, and learn more about their credentials and academic interests.

Meet the Team

The excavation is lead by our three Directors, Prof. Oded Lipschits of Tel Aviv University, Prof. Manfred Oeming of Heidelberg University, and Dr. Yuval Gadot of Tel Aviv University.

Alongside the excavation leaders is our team of fieldwork specialists. It is our privilege to work with Liora Freud as our excavation Registrar and Ceramics Expert, our Surveyor Neil Erskine, our General Manager, Yael Frank and our Administrator, Maddison Gates.
