Dear friends,
We hope that you have all remained happy, healthy and safe during these difficult times. While we are glad to see improvement in the situation and the easing of many restrictions on our daily lives, for many countries, travel restrictions have remained in place. In the case of Israel, travel into the country is currently permitted only to citizens and there is a mandatory 14-day quarantine.
In light of this, and assuming there will be no dramatic change in the coming weeks, we are planning to base our excavation on those who are already in Israel. We are still hoping that we will have the opportunity to meet and excavate with you all, but we must begin planning the season according to the situation as it stands now. Should this be the case, and you are unable to join us this season, we hope to meet you again in future excavations.
For those from abroad who have already registered, please let us know by the end of the month if you still plan on coming to Israel and participating in the excavation, according to any requirements that will exist in late July and during August. If you are already in Israel and would still like to participate, then please reach out to our administrative staff.
While this is an unfortunate outcome, the health and safety of our team is of the utmost importance and we have appreciated your understanding and patience throughout this whole process. We wish you the best of luck and health for the coming year and hope that next summer, we will be able to see your smiling faces once again!
Kindest regards,
The Azekah Team

Dear friends,
We hope that you are all happy, healthy and safe amidst these trying times. We have continued to monitor the situation here in Israel and abroad, and are glad to see that many of the measures taken to reduce the spread of COVID-19 have been successful.
In light of easing restrictions in Israel, we have been granted a license to excavate at Tel Azekah this summer, between 25 July–20 August 2020. We are planning to go ahead with the excavation, but will continue to monitor the situation over the coming weeks with a final decision made by mid-May.
We would like to reassure you that the health and safety of our team is of the utmost importance, and every effort is being made to ensure that safety and social distancing protocols will be followed while excavating.
We do encourage you to register as usual and, for your peace of mind, will be extending all payment deadlines until after a final decision is made regarding the season.
As usual, our administrative staff will be available to answer any and all questions you may have! We understand that the current situation is worrying, but we are confident that things are beginning to settle and that come summer, we will be able to see your smiling faces once again!
Kindest regards,
The Azekah Team
